Microsoft rolled out its inaugural cybersecurity‑focused artificial‑intelligence model and an accompanying agentic security platform during a low‑key gathering in San Francisco on Monday. The model, named MAI‑Cyber‑1‑Flash, is described as a system "built to find challenging vulnerabilities in complex codebases" and is embedded in the company’s MDASH harness, a suite for software vulnerability identification and remediation.

Perception, the new platform, deploys teams of autonomous agents to automate and accelerate typical security tasks. Red‑team agents simulate attacks and map potential threat actors, blue‑team agents hunt for and triage existing bugs, while green‑team agents take corrective actions to remediate findings. Lead engineer Dave Weston said the approach cuts weeks of manual effort down to minutes, delivering detection, posture fixing, and even code patches in a single workflow.

Hayete Gallot, Microsoft’s vice president for security, warned that cybercriminals are increasingly leveraging AI to scale attacks. "Perception lets enterprise defenders defend against AI with AI at the scale and speed that the attackers have," she said, emphasizing the platform’s ability to generate rapid, context‑rich simulations and automated fixes.

Microsoft plans to make the tools available in preview starting Nov. 3, positioning them against a crowded field of AI‑driven security solutions.
