OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT is now able to interact with several third‑party applications via its newly introduced Apps SDK. The initial lineup features Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma and Zillow. In the coming weeks, DoorDash, OpenTable, Target and Uber will also become available within the chatbot environment.
How Users Interact
ChatGPT users can reference an app by name in their conversation. The first mention triggers a prompt to link the user’s account to ChatGPT. For example, a user can ask, “Spotify, make a playlist for my party this Friday,” and the model will generate recommendations based on mood, theme or topic, then direct the user to Spotify to listen. Similarly, a user can ask Canva to design a poster, and the model will produce visual concepts that the user can refine.
Future Plans
OpenAI indicated that the integration is in early stages and that functionality will improve over time. Later this year, the company plans to open the platform for developers to submit their own apps for review and publication, allowing broader monetization opportunities.
