What is Oracle Media Fabric?

Oracle has announced Media Fabric, a platform that uses artificial intelligence to help media companies, streaming services and brands make video and stream it to audiences. The company unveiled the product Tuesday at its AI World event in Las Vegas, and it plans to release the platform within 12 months.

Oracle chief executive Clay Magouyrk framed the launch as a fix for a split that has long defined the industry. “Creating content and delivering it to viewers were separate processes,” he said. “With Oracle Media Fabric, we’re bringing content creation and streaming together, using AI across the entire production and distribution workflow.”

How does Media Fabric combine AI video tools and live streaming?

The platform has three main parts. The first is Oracle’s own AI models for making and editing video and images. Those models sit inside a tool called Creative Studio, which forms the production suite. The second is a set of models from other companies. Creative Studio can select outside models for each task, weighing cost, security and copyright risk before choosing one.

The third part, Oracle Video Edge, is built for large live events. It uses live data to route each viewer to the best server, which Oracle says helps streams start quickly and stay smooth when audiences spike.

For advertisers, the most immediate appeal may be speed and scale. Brands can turn one ad into many versions, each following their own rules. Broadcasters can tailor shows for different viewers. Oracle says Media Fabric gives creators of all sizes tools that were once available only to the biggest streaming platforms.

Does Media Fabric protect against AI copying others' material?

Oracle also says the platform includes safeguards to protect customers’ work. It is designed to reduce the risk that AI-generated output copies someone else’s material. Concerns about that kind of risk have been central to the entertainment industry’s response to generative video tools. ByteDance reached a pact with Hollywood over its AI video tool in August, after similar worries were raised.

Streaming companies are already using generative AI in other ways. Netflix, for one, uses the technology to help viewers find shows.

The Media Fabric launch is one of several announcements at AI World this week. Oracle also revealed a deal to offer Cerebras AI computers and a $1 billion fund for partners.
