AT&T’s Connected Life home security system now works with Gemini for Home, giving customers AI-generated descriptions of what their cameras capture and the ability to search recorded video with plain-language questions. The company says Connected Life is the “first” home security product to integrate with Google Home Premium.

What can Gemini for Home do with AT&T Connected Life cameras?

With the update, Gemini for Home can describe events picked up by security cameras. A description can say who delivered a package and how many items they dropped off. Users can also search recorded footage by asking questions like “What dug up the yard last night?” or “Who let the dogs out?” The system also offers daily summaries of activity inside and outside the home.

How much does the Gemini for Home feature in Connected Life cost?

Those features are limited to AT&T’s professional Connected Life monitoring plan, which costs $29.99 per month. AT&T is also adding a feature that automatically arms or disarms a home based on the homeowner’s proximity to it.

AT&T launched Connected Life last December in partnership with Google and Abode. The new integration uses Google’s Gemini-powered Home APIs, which allow smart home brands and developers to build AI-powered features into their devices.

Rival home security company ADT has also hinted that it may bring Gemini for Home features into its own security systems.
