Apple may be preparing to bring AI chatbots to HomeView, according to code found in the iOS 27.3 beta. The code includes a flag for a “Conversational Apps” category, a sign that the company could allow chat-based apps on its smart home hub.

Could Apple HomeView Support AI Chatbot Apps?

The code does not identify which apps would qualify. But the category name points toward tools like ChatGPT and Claude, which are the kinds of conversational AI apps the flag seems designed to accommodate.

Which HomeView Features Are in the iOS 27.3 Beta?

Developer pdfu, posting on X, noted that the same beta adds support for bidirectional audio routing and session management. The developer added that those features are “still not fully wired up,” meaning they may not work yet even though the code is present.

The beta also contains a security feature that could affect how people access HomeView. After three failed attempts, a user would need to authenticate with an iPhone. The system would also impose lockouts that grow longer over time, starting at one hour for the second lockout and rising to eight hours by the fourth.

Apple has not officially announced any of these features. The company has not said whether the chatbot category, the audio changes or the authentication rules will reach users, and there is no word on a release date.
