Anthropic announced a partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) aimed at accelerating the adoption of its Claude artificial‑intelligence models in Indian enterprises. The agreement creates a new TCS business unit focused on deploying Claude across a range of industries, giving the services firm early access to upcoming model releases and the ability to embed the assistant into its own workforce of over 50,000 employees.
Both companies said the collaboration will target sectors where AI can drive immediate value: financial services, healthcare, telecommunications and aviation. TCS’s UK‑based life‑and‑pensions arm, Diligenta, plans to use Claude for customer‑service interactions and process automation, while the firm’s digital‑learning platform, TCS iON, will launch training and certification programs around Anthropic’s models.
Beyond the core deployment effort, TCS will contribute capabilities to Anthropic’s Claude Code ecosystem. The joint effort includes building tools for claims adjudication, lending advisory and other domain‑specific applications, a move that could deepen the integration of Claude into existing business workflows.
Anthropic has been courting the Indian market aggressively, describing it as its second‑largest after the United States. Over the past year the startup opened an office in the country, hired senior leadership and forged ties with major IT services firms. Earlier this year, it partnered with Infosys, and rivals such as OpenAI have struck similar deals with Infosys and HCLTech.
The partnership comes at a time when investors and tech executives are questioning the long‑term outlook for India’s $315 billion IT services sector. Shares of TCS and Infosys have each slipped roughly a third so far this year, reflecting concerns that the rapid rise of generative AI could reshape traditional outsourcing models.
Industry observers see the Anthropic‑TCS deal as a signal that AI‑first strategies are moving beyond the lab and into the day‑to‑day operations of large enterprises. By leveraging TCS’s extensive client base and delivery capabilities, Anthropic hopes to scale Claude’s reach quickly, while TCS gains a competitive edge in the burgeoning enterprise‑AI market.
Neither company disclosed financial terms, but the collaboration is expected to generate new revenue streams for both parties as enterprises adopt AI‑driven solutions for automation, decision support and customer engagement.
