PS5LM Turns a Jailbroken PlayStation 5 Into a Home Model Server

A new open-source app called PS5LM lets owners of a jailbroken PlayStation 5 run GGUF language models on the console's GPU and share them with every device on their home network. The app runs llama.cpp on the PS5's graphics chip and serves OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible APIs, so laptops, phones and coding tools can connect without a PC, a cloud service or an account. The project's developers have also added decision models that answer typed questions about text and images, using the same API that Ollaya serves on a PC. The app requires a jailbroken console running firmware 7.00 to 13.60 and several homebrew payloads. Leggi di più

Anthropic's Claude Code Team Hands Most Code Review to Machines, Keeps Humans on Risky Changes

Anthropic's Claude Code team has moved most of its code review to automated systems as AI agents produce more of the tool's own code. From June to September, merged pull requests more than doubled, while the share that had to be reverted fell by more than 40 percent. The team says Claude writes about 90 percent of Claude Code's code. Humans still approve higher-risk changes, and the team's goal is to reduce the time people spend on review without increasing reverts or incidents. The approach relies on layered automated checks, risk-based approvals, feature flags and fast rollbacks. Leggi di più

Anthropic's Claude Finds Leaner Designs for Quantum Circuits

Anthropic says its AI model, Claude, designed quantum circuits that use fewer qubits and fewer gates than the best published designs, in some cases by an order of magnitude or more. Working in a closed loop with an automated evaluator, Claude did most of the work without human input between rounds. The company says the results could bring useful quantum computers closer, because the circuits that run quantum algorithms are a major bottleneck. Claude's designs covered eight computational tasks in chemistry, optimization, physics simulation and number theory, including a new method for modular inversion used in elliptic-curve calculations. Anthropic's Claude Traces Origins of NIST Elliptic Curve Seeds to 1990s Random Number Generator

Anthropic says its internal research model, Claude, has solved a decades-old mystery about how the U.S. government generated the seed values behind several widely used elliptic curve cryptography standards. The seeds, which the NSA supplied to the National Institute of Standards and Technology without explanation, were produced by a common 1990s random number generator seeded with a Unix timestamp, not by a hash of a hidden phrase as rumored. Anthropic said the finding is not a cryptographic weakness and makes a backdoor less likely. The company is donating the $36,864 bounty that had been offered for solving the puzzle to the Internet Security Research Group. Leggi di più

Developer Says Anthropic API Charged $504 Instead of $5.04 Over Decimal Input Error

A software developer and attorney in Costa Rica says Anthropic's API billing system charged his credit card $504.00 instead of $5.04 when he tried to add credits to his account. He says the platform silently removed a decimal point he typed in a Spanish-language locale, and that no confirmation screen appeared before the charge went through. He has started a chargeback with his bank, but says it could take up to 120 days. He says an automated support bot denied his refund request. The account comes from a post on Hacker News. The claims have not been independently verified, and the post does not include a response from Anthropic. Leggi di più

Apple Tightens App Store Rules to Target 'Nudify' AI Apps

Apple has updated its App Store rules to more explicitly ban so-called "nudify" apps, which use AI tools to generate intimate images of people without their consent. The changes, announced Friday, follow sustained criticism of the company after X users used Grok to create nonconsensual, sexualized deepfakes, including images of minors. Under the new language, developers must proactively prevent and remove such images, and apps that fail to comply can be pulled from the store. Apple also clarified rules covering apps that change features after approval and apps that facilitate human trafficking or the exploitation of children. Leggi di più

RapidCanvas Raises $29 Million to Build and Run AI Apps for Enterprises

Austin-based RapidCanvas has raised $29 million in Series B funding to expand its business of building and running artificial intelligence apps for companies. Vertex Ventures SEA & India led the round, and Hitachi Ventures joined. Existing investors Accel, Peak XV Partners, Valley Capital Partners and Titanium Ventures also took part. The startup said the money will fund larger sales teams, partnerships with private equity firms and advisers, and hiring of AI engineers in the U.S., Brazil and India. The round brings its total funding to $52.5 million. The company said its annual recurring revenue grew eightfold over the past six quarters, though it did not disclose revenue figures or its valuation. Leggi di più
