XDC Network has chosen Concordium as the exclusive identity verification provider for XDC AI, its agent payments marketplace. The partnership lets AI agents show they are backed by a verified person or business, without making that owner’s identity public.

The move addresses a gap that payment systems alone do not close. Autonomous agents can now manage wallets and execute transactions, but the infrastructure that lets them move money does not necessarily establish who is responsible for their actions. For businesses weighing agents for financial operations, knowing who stands behind an agent adds a layer of oversight.

XDC AI launched in July 2026. It allows autonomous agents to discover services and pay for them in USDC through non-custodial wallets, using the x402 payment standard. The Concordium integration adds an identity verification layer on top of that.

Agents operating on XDC AI can now receive publicly verifiable on-chain badges confirming that an authenticated owner stands behind them. The personal information behind those badges stays off-chain.

Getting the badge takes several steps. Owners complete a passport and liveness check through the Concordium Wallet, and an independent identity provider conducts the check. Once verified, owners link their XDC wallets using two signatures that do not transfer funds. They then register their agents to receive the verification badge.

Concordium says its identity framework keeps personal information private. Disclosing that information requires a court order and joint action by independent Privacy Guardians.

Atul Khekade, co-founder of XDC Network, said the next step for institutions is clear. “Agents on XDC AI can already discover services and pay for them in USDC,” he said. “What institutions need next is to know who stands behind an agent before they trust it with real money.” He added that Concordium gives every verified agent an accountable owner without putting personal data on-chain.

Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki, CEO of Concordium, put the problem in simpler terms. “Payment tells you an agent can spend. It doesn’t tell you who answers for it,” he said. He described the company’s role as making sure a verified person or business stands behind every agent it verifies. “EVM or non-EVM, what matters is who is accountable, not which network an agent uses,” he said. “XDC is the first of many networks integrating with us.”

Concordium already supports agent verification on Ethereum and Solana. The XDC deal, however, marks its first full-network integration. Agents keep their existing wallets, code and operations on XDC, with Concordium serving as a separate identity verification layer.

The agreement also includes a revenue-sharing model tied to agent verifications. Each verified agent creates a Concordium account linked to its authenticated owner. Sponsored network fees remove the need for developers to hold Concordium’s native CCD token.

The verification service is now available at xdcai.tech/agent-verification. Developer documentation is posted at docs.xdcai.tech/wallet/agent-verification.
