UiPath plans to charge companies for every document its new finance agents process, instead of selling them a software project. Mircea Giurcan, a senior transformation director at the company, outlined the model Monday at UiPath FUSION, held at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

When will UiPath's invoice and procurement agents be available?

The invoice processing and procurement parts of the UiPath Solution for Source-to-Pay will be available from early 2027, Giurcan said. Further finance modules, including order-to-cash, are due in mid-2027.

“Your accounts payable is not special. It shouldn’t be special. Still, an invoice is an invoice,” Giurcan told the audience.

Paying per document

Giurcan said UiPath’s most mature customers spend most of their effort on an automation project before anything runs. They pick a process, analyze its metrics, interview the staff who handle it and build a business case. Many finance processes look the same across most customers, regardless of industry, the company said.

How does UiPath charge for its finance AI agents?

About a year ago, UiPath’s product team decided to package that standard finance work as a ready-made product. It has two sides. One guides employees as they buy goods and services. The other handles the invoices that follow each order. Customers pay a price per item, multiplied by the number of items processed, Giurcan said.

The company first announced procurement agents in March, under the name UiPath Solution for Purchase-to-Pay. That announcement did not include a price or a release date.

An agent that questions the price

What does a UiPath procurement agent do?

On the procurement side, Giurcan walked the audience through a scenario involving an employee who wanted to buy ten laptops for an event. An agent checked whether that person was allowed to request that equipment in that quantity. It also identified who needed to approve the purchase and which vendor usually supplies the item.

The agent then flagged that the quoted price was higher than in past orders. It drafted an email to the distributor’s sales representative, citing the requisition number, and held the order until a reply arrived. A buyer would normally spend about half an hour on that task, Giurcan said.

On the invoice side, the agents collect invoices however they arrive, check them and post them into the customer’s enterprise resource planning system.

Giurcan also said Cartographer, a process-mapping agent UiPath launched in September, will reduce the number of interviews needed to map a process. Chief executive Daniel Dines, speaking at the same event, said people must steer AI.

The finance push follows UiPath’s acquisition of WorkFusion in February. The company’s pivot toward AI agents won over investors in July.
