Dayforce is bringing its HR, payroll and scheduling data into Anthropic’s Claude, giving customers a way to ask questions about their workforce in plain language and take certain actions without leaving the chatbot. The human capital management software company announced the new connector on Tuesday.
What can customers do with the Dayforce connector in Claude?
The connector lets customers approve requests, fill open shifts, submit time off and engage job candidates from inside Claude. It is built on the Model Context Protocol and is in beta, with general availability expected in 2027.
Does Dayforce require human approval before changing workforce data?
Dayforce said every response respects the permissions customers have already set in its system. Any change to workforce data requires validation and explicit human confirmation before it goes through. Salesforce made its own products available inside Claude in August.
“Workforce insights and action should meet people in the systems where they already work,” said Jake Varghese, chief product and technology officer at Dayforce.
The connector is part of what Dayforce calls its Agentic HCM Platform, which the company unveiled at Dayforce Discover, its flagship customer conference. The platform includes Ask Dayforce, a conversational experience that runs through the entire product. Dayforce AI Agents is a portfolio of specialized tools, with hundreds planned across the workforce lifecycle. Dayforce Bots are AI teammates that customers can create to automate recurring work.
Some AI agent capabilities and parts of Dayforce Deploy, an AI-powered implementation service, are available now. Other capabilities will roll out at different times through 2027, the company said.
Dayforce also introduced Dayforce Build, which allows customers and partners to create apps, bots and documents by describing what they need in plain language. Build is model agnostic and selects a large language model for each task, according to the company. Apps built with it run in an isolated sandbox and can reach data only through Dayforce’s permission model.
“If you can describe what your business needs, you can build it. That’s Dayforce Build,” said David Ossip, founder and CEO of Dayforce.
When will Dayforce Build and the Dayforce Marketplace be available?
A forthcoming Dayforce Marketplace will let customers install apps and bots made by Dayforce, partners and other customers. Aflac, Checkr, Deloitte, Emburse, Guusto, PwC and WorkBright are already building for it. Build and the Marketplace both arrive in 2027.
Dayforce also expanded its work with Microsoft. Bots created in Build will run inside Copilot and Teams. Customers will also be able to build Copilot agents that use Dayforce data, within each user’s permissions. Deloitte’s first Build app manages payroll controls for SOX 404 audits, as part of a new strategic alliance between the two companies.
The company is also previewing a Strategic Workforce Planning Agent, expected in the first quarter of 2027. The tool models how work could be divided between people and AI agents and shows the cost of each change, including both headcount and AI token costs.
“For decades, workforce planning has started with headcount and worked backward. That model breaks when some of the work can be augmented by an AI agent,” Varghese said.
The product announcements followed the release of Dayforce’s annual Pulse of Talent survey, which the company published a day earlier. The survey polled 6,909 workers, managers and executives in six countries. Fifty-one percent of respondents said AI is reducing early-career opportunities. Among US respondents, 67% said AI adoption is outpacing workforce preparation.
