EngadgetOpenAI announced the ChatGPT for Academic Researchers program, offering free access to its latest GPT-5.6 Sol Pro model for up to 100,000 scientists, mathematicians and engineers through 2027. The initiative starts with 10,000 participants this summer and includes hands‑on support, the ability to add four institutional collaborators, and a pledge that researchers' data will not be used to train future models.
