Daytona Platforms said Friday it raised a $60 million Series B round at a $1 billion valuation, a milestone that puts the three-year-old New York startup among the more richly valued companies building infrastructure for AI agents. FirstMark Growth led the round. The company says it has now raised $91 million in total.
FirstMark also led Daytona’s $24 million Series A in February. This time, the firm is joined by a long list of prominent individual backers. Daytona names Stripe’s Patrick Collison, Shopify’s Tobi Lütke, Perplexity’s Aravind Srinivas, Zoom’s Eric Yuan, Datadog’s Olivier Pomel, Quora’s Adam D’Angelo and Mercor’s Brendan Foody among the angels. D’Angelo is also a board member at OpenAI.
Corporate investors Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Okta Ventures are also participating, according to the company.
Daytona is betting that today’s cloud platforms were not built for the kind of software now emerging. Its product is a cloud designed specifically for long-running agents, which the company says have different infrastructure needs than traditional software. Founder Ivan Burazin made that argument in a blog post announcing the round.
“Agents don’t work like the long-lived services today’s cloud was designed for,” Burazin wrote. “They spin up thousands of short, stateful jobs nobody planned in advance, and they need a cloud built for that.”
Burazin described the platform as a way of giving every agent its own computer. On a single platform, agents can access sandboxed versions of Linux, Windows and macOS, along with GPUs and other services, he said.
The funding comes as companies across the software industry race to build and deploy AI agents, programs that can carry out multistep tasks with limited human direction. Those programs often need to run for extended periods, create and discard many temporary processes and keep track of their own state, demands that Daytona argues conventional cloud setups handle poorly.
The company did not disclose revenue, customer counts or how it plans to use the new capital in the announcement.
