Google has added a new Personal Intelligence capability to Gemini that can draw context from a user’s Gmail, Photos, Search history and YouTube activity. The feature is optional, off by default, and lets users decide which apps feed data into the model. Gemini will not train directly on that personal content, instead learning from prompts and responses. The functionality is currently available for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on the Gemini app across web, Android and iOS, with plans to expand to Search’s AI Mode and additional regions. Google has added a feature to its Gemini mobile app that lets users upload an image and ask whether it was created by Google AI. The tool relies on SynthID, an invisible watermark applied to AI‑generated images since 2023, and also displays a visible Gemini sparkle watermark on images from the free and Google AI Pro tiers. Users can simply type a query like “was this image generated by Google AI?” and receive a response based on the watermark detection and Gemini’s reasoning. The system does not detect non‑Google AI images, which lack the SynthID mark, but can still offer visual‑clue estimates. Google has partnered with Reliance Intelligence to provide its Gemini 2.5 Pro model at no cost to users of Jio, India’s largest mobile carrier. Eligible Jio customers on the Unlimited 5G plan will receive Google AI Pro for 18 months, unlocking higher limits for Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 image and video generators, expanded NotebookLM access, and 2 TB of cloud storage across Google apps. The promotion initially targets Jio users aged 18 to 25 before expanding to all qualifying plans via the MyJio app, underscoring Google’s aggressive AI expansion strategy in the Indian market. Google announced that its Nano Banana image‑generation technology, originally part of Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, is being integrated into NotebookLM. The update adds a new ‘Brief’ video format and a suite of customizable visual styles—including Classic, Whiteboard, Watercolor, Retro Print, Heritage, Paper Craft, and Anime—allowing users to tailor AI‑generated video overviews. The features will first roll out to Google AI Pro subscribers at $20 per month, with a broader release planned for free users.
